The gun and ammunition which were seized


Several people were arrested overnight during an anti-crime police exercise conducted in the Morvant area.

The offences ranged from possession of marijuana to possession of firearms and ammunition.

According to a police report, the exercise took place from 2 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday and was headed by Snr. Supt. Maharaj, acting Supt. Alexander and Aacting Pariman.

It was coordinated by Sgt Davidson, acting Sgt. Quashie, Ag/Sgt. Mitchell and included members of the North Eastern Division’s CID, Task Force and Gang Unit.

Police said several search warrants were executed at various locations at Paradise Heights, Morvant where 230 grams of marijuana was found and seized at Bldg A Apt 1-5 Paradise Heights Morvant and two men were arrested – a 31-year-old and a 26-year-old.

A search was also conducted at Chaconia Avenue, Coconut Drive, Morvant where 55 grams of marijuana was found and seized and one person was arrested – aged 28 years of #41 Chaconia Avenue, Coconut Drive, Morvant.

Also a 19-year-old man was arrested on robbery inquiries in the San Juan district.

Officers also acted on information received and went to Alicia’s Guest House located at Lady Chancellor Road, Port-of-Spain, where a room was searched and one .38 revolver with two live .38 rounds of ammunition was found in the ceiling.

A total of seven people were arrested – ages from 18 to 29, five of them from Laventille, one from Tacarigua and the other from St Joseph.
