Investigations are continuing into a shooting incident on Tuesday night on the compound of Tru Valu in Diego Martin.
At about 8.30 pm officers of the West End CID responded to a report of a shooting at Tru Valu on Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard, Diego Martin. At the scene, they met and interviewed a security supervisor who told them that at about 8.20 pm, one of the occupants of a black Mitsubishi Lancer, PDL 7844, in the car park of the supermarket had an altercation with another man who pulled out a firearm and fired several rounds in the direction of the vehicle which sped off. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
PCs Morris and Giles made checks at St James and Port of Spain General Hospitals but could not get any useful information about the incident. The scene was processed by PC Durham, WPC Perreira and PC Dennie of the crime scene unit and nine 9 mm ammunition spent shells and a live round were retrieved.
Police said the window pane on an adjacent building on the northern side of the compound was damaged and they believe it was caused by a projectile.
No official reports of the shooting have yet been made by the victims. PC Morris is continuing enquiries.
In a separate incident, at about 7.55 pm on Tuesday Jaavaikaar George, 19, of LP 52, Chandool Lane, El Socorro Road, San Juan, was lying on a bed in his downstairs apartment when a gunman barged in suddenly and opened fire.
