A firearm and ammunition were found during an anti-crime exercise in the Maraval district by officers of the Western Division CID, yesterday.

The exercise was conducted between 5:00 pm and 7:40 pm on Saturday, 27th June 2020. 

Official police reports indicate that during the exercise, officers proceeded to the basketball court along Saddle Road and conducted an extensive search in the area.

The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of one Sig Sauer pistol, with one magazine and seventy-three (73) rounds of 5.56 ammunition, and four (4) rounds of 9mm ammunition.  The items were found in a plastic bag which was hidden in an electrical panel underneath the pavilion.

No one was arrested.

The anti-crime exercise was spearheaded by Inspector Grant and conducted by Cpl Gibbs, Cpl. Pennie, Sgt. Roberts and PC Espinoza.

Investigations are ongoing.
