One man was jailed for nine months while another was fined $5,000 for possession of 1.8 kilogrammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Ika Goitia, 28, of San Fernando, and Dion Daniel, 44, of Princes Town pleaded guilty during a virtual hearing before Princes Town Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine.
They were arrested on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Reagan Ramanan said officers of the Southern Division Task Force were on mobile patrol along the Moruga Road in Cachipe Village, Moruga when they received information.
This caused them to stop a Nissan B-15 driven by Goitia.
Daniel was also in the car. PC Baker searched the vehicle and found a bag containing a quantity of marijuana on the floor of the left front seat.
They were arrested and subsequently charged by PC Baker.
Goitia was sent to prison while Daniel was given two months to pay the $5,000 fine or serve six months in prison.
The magistrate ordered that the drugs be destroyed.
