Proactive, voluntary recall of specific baby powder formulas from the Similac, Alimentum and EleCare product lines

Abbott, one of the leading manufacturers of baby powder formulas – Similac, Alimentum and Elecare product lines – has issued a proactive voluntary recall to all the markets where its products are sold.  The company is represented in Trinidad and Tobago by Massy Distribution (Trinidad).

All consumers of Similac, Alimentum and Elecare products can be guided by the information below:

How do I know if I have a product affected by the recall?

Check the lot number with the lot locator at similacrecall.com.  The lot number is located on the base of the product.  If your product is not affected by the recall, no action is necessary, and you can continue to use it.

What do I do if my product is affected by the recall?

If your product is affected by the recall, do not use it. Return the product to the retail location where you purchased it for refund or exchange.  

Trinidad and Tobago retailers who received product from these three Abbott brands (Similac, Alimentum and EleCare) were all informed of the recall and advised on the necessary procedures for the return of stock.  In addition, resources were deployed to retailers across the country to verify and remove these products from store shelves.
