Russia and Venezuela are said to be in discussions on how they can increase the strategic partnership the country’s share.

A report from the Reuters news agency says Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reportedly talked about the Ukraine situation as well, during their phone call on Tuesday March 1st.

The Reuters report cited the Interfax news agency—an independent Russian news agency—as its source, with Interfax having received confirmation from the Kremlin.

The Reuters report said the Venezuelan president “expressed support for Russia”, according to the Kremlin’s statement that was quoted in the original Interfax report.
