Drugs and ammunition seized by Sangre Grande police on Tuesday.

A house search carried out by Sangre Grande police in North Oropouche, Sangre Grand, led officers to the discovery of an illegal firearm, 189 rounds of ammunition and a large quantity of marijuana and cocaine.

The exercise was conducted between the hours of 3 pm and 7 pm Tuesday.

Police discovered an automatic rifle fitted with a magazine, 127 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 62 rounds of 9mm ammunition, three 12-gauge cartridges, 134 kilogrammes of marijuana, 10 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Police say the street value of the illegal drugs run into millions of dollars.

The exercise was coordinated by Supt Khan, Insp Callender, Sgt Harper and included officers from Eastern Divisional Task Force, CID and Special Operations Unit.

Police are looking for persons of interest involved in their find.
