A Sangre Grande man was killed on Friday night while two others were injured as they were gathered together.
Shaquille Joseph, 25 of Carmichael Village, Coryal died around 7 pm on January 29.
The injured persons were identified as Raj Singh, 40 of Cumuto Main Road; and his nephew Ajay Singh, 13.
Around 6.50 pm, a cousin of the deceased reported an unknown vehicle pulling up to the group and hearing an unidentified person calling out to Joseph who had been seated at the bottom of a hill.
Minutes later, gunshots rang out.
As Joseph collapsed in a nearby drain, Raj and Ajay ran to safety.
As neighbors rushed to assist the three – Joseph was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Raj sustained wounds to his stomach and right leg, whilst Ajay suffered minor cuts and bruises.
Both were treated and discharged from hospital.
Forensic officers processed the scene and recovered 18 spent shells.
Joseph’s father, Glen, was charged for the murder of Paul Carrera who was beaten to death in February 2020.
Investigations are continuing.
