A 52-year-old shopkeeper from Santa Cruz was shot and robbed of his jewelry valued $75,000 on Monday morning.
According to a police report, at about 10.15 am the shop owner of Cantaro Village, Upper Santa Cruz was sitting on a wall, opposite his shop, ‘Dribbles Mini Mart,’ when he observed two men walking towards him. One of the men asked him for a twenty piece of marijuana, and the other man pulled out a gun from his waist, and pointed it at him.
The victim got up and ran into a neighbours yard, where he was followed and shot on both thighs.
The men then robbed him of his gold chain valued $60,000 and one gold ring valued $15,000. The men then escaped on foot.
The victim was subsequently taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for medical treatment.
