Shoppers attending the Chaguanas Market have started to comply with the COVID-19 Regulations and practice social distancing from each other.
When Guardian Media visited the facility on Saturday, police were allowing inside only a few vendors at a time, through the main passageway. However, some vendors told us now that the corridors have been cleared, they believe more shoppers could be accommodated at the facility.
Chaguanas Mayor Vandana Mohit said she was happy to see shoppers comply with the instructions of the police. Mayor Mohit said the measures will continue until otherwise directed by the authorities.
Mayor Mohit said the market and streets are sanitized daily and reported that the borough corporation has started sanitizing the PTSC compound at Railway Road.
The Chaguanas Mayor urged all persons to venture outdoors only when it becomes necessary.
