Six men are now facing separate charges of having sex with six minors in different incidents.
In the first case a 30-year-old unemployed man was granted $80,000 bail when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
The accused will reappear before the Ccourt when the matter comes up for hearing on January 14.
The accused, who resides in Lambeau, Tobago, was arrested and charged by Tobago Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) officers following an investigation into a report made by a man that his daughter was missing.
Investigations, led by WPC Corbin-Clarke, of the Tobago CPU, resulted in the missing 15-year-old girl being found in a vehicle at the side of a roadway being sexually assaulted by a man.
Police intervened, an arrested the man and took the girl to seek medical attention.
The man was subsequently charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
In the second incident an unemployed man has appeared before a Siparia magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
The charge arose out of a report made by an 11-year-old girl’s aunt that she allegedly caught her neighbour sexually assaulting her niece.
According to the woman, on December 15, she came home and saw her neighbour sexually assaulting her niece.
She attempted to restrain the man before the police arrive, however, the man managed to escape.
Cpl Barclay, of the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) began investigations where it was discovered that the suspect returned to the house, realised that the girl’s father was not at home, and held her down and sexually assaulted her.
A manhunt was launched and the suspect was arrested and charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
In the other matter a 29-year-old man appeared before the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge of sexual penetration of a minor.
The accused, who resides at Calcutta Street, Arima, was nabbed by Eastern Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) officers following an investigation into a report made by a man that his daughter was allegedly assaulted.
WPC Williams-James commenced an enquiry into the report and discovered that the man’s daughter called him sometime in October 2020 and asked that he pick her up from her mother’s house because of an ongoing argument.
The man told police that when he asked as to why the woman and her daughter were arguing that it was revealed by the child’s mother that his daughter was in a sexual relationship with a 29-year-old man.
A report was made to police and the suspect was later arrested on December 18 and charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
Three others were also expected to appear before a San Fernando and Princes Town magistrate facing similar charges.
These three, ages, 22, 33 and 35 respectively, were held in three separate exercises executed by officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) and the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) over the weekend.
Police said a 22-year-old man of Chester Street, Debe, was arrested in connection with a report made by a 17-year-old girl that she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man while at her home.
WPC Alexander, of the Southern Division CPU, led the investigation which ended in the arrest of the suspect on December 18.
Then, a 33-year-old local rap artiste was arrested following an investigation by Cpl Rohan, also of the Southern Division CPU, into a report which alleged that he was found in the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl engaging in sexual intercourse.
The suspect was arrested on December 20 and will also appear before a San Fernando magistrate.
Also, officers arrested a 35-year-old farmer of Barrackpore, following a report made by a relative of a 13-year-old girl that she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man while walking along Clement Street, Barrackpore.
Cpl Fairley, of the Southern Division CPU, led the investigation in which he learnt that the accused called the girl over to his house while she was walking along the street.
When she entered the house, the girl told police that the man allegedly locked the door, pushed her on his bed where he sexually assaulted her.
The suspect was arrested on December 19.
The exercise was headed by Supt Natasha George, ASP Sookdeo and Insp Francis of the CPU and included a team from SORT.
