Six areas within the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation (CTTRC) experienced severe flooding. However, no homes were affected. This according to the CTTRC Chairman Henry Awong.”There was one house in Todd’s Road that was affected, but mostly roads were impassable. Thank God nothing serious,” Awong said.

He said personnel from the Corporation’s Disaster Management Unit (DMU) were dispatched to the impacted areas, including Calcutta, Todds Road, Chandernagore, Ravine Sable, Cashew Gardens and Mc Bean. He added that no shelters are open presently.
However, Sand and bags were prepositioned and being distributed at multiple locations throughout the region. “Approximately 2350 were given out to councillors and sub-offices and 100 from the DMU this morning (Friday) so far,” Awong said.

At Joseph Lewis Trace, Talparo the DMU personnel responded to a huge tree that fell. Additional support was required to clear the base of the tree off the bridge. Smaller vehicles were allowed to pass.
