Six persons were arrested by police officers during an anti-crime exercise in Cunupia yesterday.
Two firearms, ammunition and narcotics were seized during the exercise.
According to police reports, during the exercise, several search warrants were executed at the homes of priority offenders.
A 42-year-old man and his 42-year-old common-law wife, of Munroe Road, Cunupia, were arrested for possession of a revolver loaded with two rounds of ammunition, a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition, two spent shells and 40 grammes of cocaine.
Officers also arrested a 35-year-old man of Bridal Road, Cunupia, for possession of marijuana, a 57-year-old woman of Orange Valley, Couva, for possession of cocaine, a 51-year old man of Caroni, for possession of marijuana and a 24-year-old Cunupia man for using obscene language and resisting arrest.
The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Curt Simon and ASP Dipchand, was conducted between 11.30 am and 8 pm, on Wednesday 3rd February 2021 and included officers of the Central Division Task Force, Area North, and the Canine Branch. Investigations are ongoing.
