Suspected drowning off Carenage

A 56-year-old man, whose body was found floating in the Gulf of Paria off Carenage, is believed to have drowned.

According to a police report, at about 9:45 am on Monday (29th March 2021), the body of Roddrick Harris, of Francis Street, Carenage, was found floating in the vicinity of St Peter’s Church, close to the Carenage Police Station.

A party of police officers who responded to the report, indicated that Harris’ body was clad only in green underwear.

Harris’ relatives, who positively identified the body, told police that Harris was last seen alive on Sunday.  They also noted that he had not been suffering from any medical conditions.

Harris’ body was fished out of the Gulf and removed to the Port-of-Spain mortuary pending an autopsy.
