Three teenagers were arrested and charged on Sunday for the murder of Mickel Berrot. The charges were laid against David “Farmer” Floyd. Selene “Mariah” Belle and Rivaldo Beckles, all of Kelly Village, Caroni, on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC.
At about 3.51 pm on September 25, Berrot and another man went to the Caroni Police Station. Berrot, who was suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds about the body, reported that they were victims of a robbery. Both men were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for medical treatment but Berrot succumbed to his injuries at 8.30 pm.
Further enquiries revealed that Berrot and the other man left Curepe after noon in a blue Nissan Tiida and went to Boysie Trace, Kelly Village, to meet a woman. They parked at the end of a dead-end street and while waiting there they were approached by two men. An altercation ensued and Berrot was wounded. The assailants escaped with the Tiida vehicle and $50.
The suspects are due to appear virtually before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court.
