The Secretary for Health, Wellness and Family Development in the Tobago House of Assembly, Dr Agatha Carrington, has resigned.
Her resignation became effective on Friday, February 28.
When contacted on her decision to demit office, Dr Carrington said she “had nothing more to add to what she had already said”.
Probing further into who would manage the Division as the Tobago House of Assembly continues to transition, Dr Carrington said:
“I am no longer part of the Executive so I do not know anything.”
In January 2017, Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles appointed Dr Agatha Carrington as a Councillor in the THA and subsequently the Health Secretary. She is one of three Councillors elected by Charles when he became Chief Secretary.
Charles lost the People’s National Movement (PNM) internal party elections to Tracy Davidson-Celestine on January 26 this year.
Although his term ends in January 2021, he has opted to resign at the end of April.
Meanwhile, Political Leader of the Tobago Council of the PNM, Tracy Davidson-Celestine, will take up office from today (March 2, 2020), as a Councillor on the Assembly.
