The TTPS says charges against the three suspects are imminent

Three men were arrested and one firearm, 18 rounds of ammunition and two magazines seized by officers of the Western Division Special Patrol Unit (WDSPU) during an intelligence-led exercise in the St. James District, yesterday.

According to official police reports, at about 9:50pm on Wednesday 5th February, officers of the WDPSU were on mobile patrol along the Western Main Road, St. James, when they received information about a man having a firearm in his possession at the Bess West Supermarket, Mathura Street in St. James.

The officers responded and had cause to search a male suspect which resulted in one Glock 19 pistol loaded with a magazine containing 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered in his possession.

The 23-year-old suspect was immediately arrested and taken to the Four Roads Police Station where he remains in custody.

Moments later, the same officers were then alerted to two male occupants of a Nissan Tiida motor vehicle parked at a nearby Subway restaurant. When they arrived, the officers had cause to search the vehicle and its two occupants.

During the search, the officers discovered one Glock magazine hidden in a bag in the vehicle.

The two male occupants, a 21-year-old and 23-year-old, were both arrested and taken to the Four Roads Police Station, where they remain in custody.

The TTPS says charges are imminent in both cases.
