A 17-year-old boy of Signal Hill, Tobago, was granted $50,000 bail when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate on December 22 charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
According to the TTPS, the boy is expected to reappear before the court on January 19, 2021.
The boy’s mother will act as surety as he was also ordered to report to the Shirvan Road Police Station once a week.
Police said the charge arose out of a report made by a 12-year-old girl to officers that while at the Signal Hill Recreational Grounds, a boy held her down and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
W/Cpl (Ag.) Clarke, of the Tobago Child Protection Unit (CPU), launched an investigation into the details of the report and subsequently arrested and charged the accused with one count of sexual penetration of a minor.
