Scarborough Magistrates' Court, Tobago.

A 57-year-old Tobago man was granted bail in the sum of $15,000, when he appeared before a Scarborough Magistrate last week, charged with Breach of Protection Order.

The accused appeared before Magistrate Duane Murray, in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 26th June 2020, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail with surety.

The matter was adjourned to Friday 24th July 2020.

Official police reports state that the female victim reported to police that on Thursday 25th June 2020, she was at home her Tobago home with the accused, when they got into an argument. During the altercation, the accused made threats to kill her, thereby breaching a Protection Order which had been issued at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court in February 2020, for a period of three years.

The victim made a report to the Moriah Police Station and the matter was referred to the Tobago Division’s Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU).

Investigations were spearheaded by Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, while charges were laid by PC Sandy, both of the GBVU.
