Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, chaired today’s weekly COMPSTAT meeting through the use of video conferencing technology.
At present, the Commissioner is in self-quarantine at his residence, as a result of recent overseas travel.
An official statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reports that Commissioner Griffith utilized a secure platform—which has been installed at several police stations across the country—to join the meeting with the Divisional Commanders of the nine Policing Divisions.
The release indicates that since the universal calls for social distancing first began, the TTPS quickly adapted the technology to comply with the guidelines issued, amidst the challenges posed by the coronavirus.
The TTPS also has begun encouraging citizens to make use of the TTPS App, to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection to themselves, as well as police officers.
Users of the App are urged to utilize the ‘Report A Crime’ feature on the application to make official police reports, instead of making in-person visits to police stations, during the current crisis period.
