A project officer assigned to the National Commission for Self Help Limited, Julien Celestine, is on administrative leave pending the outcome of charges laid against him by the Commission, headquartered in Trinidad.
Celestine is the brother-in- law of THA Health Secretary Tracy Davidson-Celestine.
This was confirmed by the commission’s chief executive officer Elroy Julien.
Julien, when contacted, would not detail the nature of the charges against Celestine.
“I don’t think I want to prejudice the matter in any way. He (Celestine) is on administrative leave. The commission has charged him with certain matters. If I say anything more, it may compromise the investigation.”
He said Celestine will appear before a “disciplinary tribunal early next month.”
According to Julien, the Tobago office is run from Trinidad by a project officer, who is also responsible for northern Trinidad.
“However, we are in the process of recruiting an officer for Tobago soon,” he added.
Tracy Davidson-Celestine is also the leader of the Tobago Council of the PNM and is contesting a seat in the upcoming THA elections in January.
