The Southern main road in Vessigny has been closed by the TTPS for the next 48 hours to facilitate an oil spill clean-up. In a press release issued this afternoon, the TTPS stated that “the Southern Main Road, Vessigny, will be closed from Labidco Roundabout to the Vance River and Highway merger.” Traffic will be diverted through the Union Industrial Estate Road.”
Clean up efforts are currently underway by Heritage Petroleum following reports of an oil spill in the Vessigny river this morning. The following is a press release from the TTPS:
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) advises citizens that there will be a temporary closure of the Southern Main Road, Vessigny, for the next 48 hours to facilitate clean-up of an oil spill in the area. The Southern Main Road, Vessigny, will be closed from Labidco Roundabout to the Vance River and Highway merger.
Traffic will be diverted through the Union Industrial Estate Road. Motorists and residents in the affected areas are asked to adhere to the road signs, and the instructions of police officers and other law enforcement personnel as the authorities move to restore normalcy and usability of the areas. Citizens are also urged to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution in the affected areas and along the alternative route. The TTPS will provide an update to the public when the road is reopened to vehicular traffic.
