A gas truck ripped down utility poles in Sobo Village, La Brea, this morning, causing a traffic pile up and damaging at least one house.
“I thought it was an earthquake or something,” said resident Tiffany Francois, as she recalled the incident.
“I was sleeping with my niece, my nephews and my sister here, and we experience an accident and the whole house start to shake. The TV fall down and I had to grab my two nephews and come outside,” she told Guardian Media.
She said could not believe what she saw outside her house.
“The electricity pole was on the ground. A big truck was speeding going, other poles falling down.”
She said she realised that it was not an earthquake, but a utility pole, which had fallen on the roof of her home.
“The whole roof (damage), the roof almost come down on them children. TV get damaged,” she said. None of Tiffany Francois loved ones reportedly were injured.
Guardian Media understands there were also two damaged vehicles on the scene.
A T&TEC crew is said to be on the scene doing repairs and trying to restore an electricity supply to affected residents.
Meanwhile, the accident caused a back-up of traffic along the Southern Main Road.
