The Certificate of Character Sercive provided by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will resume on May 10th.
The resumption comes after the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which is used to assist in the tracing and identifying fingerprints, malfunctioned for a few weeks.

The AFIS required a new part which was immediately ordered by the TTPS when the malfunction was detected. However, due to challenges with COVID in the originating country, beyond the control of the TTPS, the delivery of the part experienced several delays.

The TTPS received the equipment this week and AFIS is now fully operational. Officers of the fingerprint department are currently working on clearing the backlog of prints to be processed as the TTPS understands the difficulties and inconveniences caused by the interruption of the service.

Only applicants who submitted their fingerprints for analysis are advised to contact the stations in which their applications were made from Monday 10th May, 2021, between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. All other applicants who were unable to make appointments online or who had their appointments cancelled.
