The getaway vehicle used by the gunmen was later found abandoned in the area not too long after the shooting by police.

The victim has been identified as Kerry Matamoro of La Rue Pomme, Maracas St Joseph.

According to a police report, around 7:42 pm, neighbours heard several loud explosions and upon checking saw Matamoro lying in his yard at the back of his home nursing several gunshot wounds about his body.

The police were called in and upon arrival saw neighbours putting Matamoro in a car to be taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for medical treatment. He was however pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

A party of officers who also responded to the shooting received information that the suspects escaped in a white Nissan Ad van.
