Two men were charged by officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) for three counts of sexual penetration of a child and four counts of sexual touching of a child following an intelligence-led exercise.
In the first incident, officers of the Port-of-Spain CPU, in collaboration with officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) went to Nelson Street, Port-of-Spain, on Thursday 6th February where they arrested a man and charged him with two counts of sexual penetration and three counts of sexual touching of a child during the period 2016 to 2020.
The 49-year-old male relative of the victim was taken into custody and is was scheduled to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate yesterday. Friday.
Cpl Neptune of the Port-of-Spain CPU laid the charges.
And a 58-year-old man was granted $100,000 on Thursday after appearing in court for several sexual offences against a minor.
The man was held by officers of the Western CPU who responded to a report of sexual assault against a child on Monday.
The officers proceeded to La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin, where they arrested the 58-year-old or one count of sexual penetration of a child and one count sexual touching of a child.
The 58-year-old man was charged with the offences and appeared before Port-of-Spain Magistrate Marissa Gomez and granted $100,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to March 5.
