Two Spanish-speaking men who attempted to evade police, crashed off the highway during a high-speed chase along the Uriah Butler Highway (UBH), Chaguanas, on Tuesday morning.
Guardian Media understands the men were arrested after police found two packets of cocaine in their possession.

According to a police report, at about 7:45 am, three highway patrol units went to the UBH Chaguanas in the vicinity of Heartland Plaza, where Emergency Rapid Patrol (ERP) officers who were proceeding south along the highway challenged a white Aqua vehicle, which was driving in the same direction, allegedly in an erratic manner.
The vehicle then sped off and the ERP officers gave chase. The car subsequently ran off the road in the vicinity of Heartland Plaza and the suspects were apprehended with what appeared to be blocks of illicit drugs (cocaine).

The suspects and the items were taken to the Chaguanas CID, while the vehicle was wrecked and impounded at the Chaguanas Police Station.
The scene also was visited by Sgt John and a party of officers from the Central Division Task Force.
Investigations continue.
