The officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) have arrested two individuals in St James and Tobago for offences, contrary to Section 18 of the Children’s Act 46:01. The exercise was spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) George, ASP Nowbutt, and supervised by Insp Francis and Sgt Miller. According to police reports, a 47-year-old unemployed man, of School Road, Long Circular St. James, is expected to appear before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court today on one (1) count of sexual touching of a minor. The second accused, a 38 year- old labourer, of Gold Finch Ave, Sou Sou Lands, Tobago, is also expected to appear before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today on one (1) count of sexual touching of a minor. The Child Protection Unit wishes to emphasize that all reports of child abuse will be thoroughly investigated.
