Police said the victim was shot multiple times.

An unidentified man was gunned down on Monday night in Laventille.

According to a police report, at about 7.20 pm, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force responded to the sound of gunshots at Cashville, in the Eastern Quarry area.

On arrival, they found the body of an unidentified man lying on the roadway.

Police said he was shot multiple times.

The body was clad in a green jersey, a pair of long black jeans and a pair of black sneakers.

The body was viewed by District Medical Officer Dr. Balkaran, who ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.

A party of police officers visited the scene, including acting ASP Cumberbatch, Sgt Balewah of POS CID and acting Insp Matas of IATF.

PC Barker is continuing enquiries.

The murder count now stands at 40.
