A Valsayn man was expected to appear before a Tunapuna Magistrate today, charged with the murder of his cousin, Sheldon Beepath, which occurred on April 11th.
Ravi Beharry, 22, of Nabbie Street, Bamboo #2, Valsayn, was charged with murder, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard on April 17th.
Beepath, 35, of the same address, was at his home around 2:00pm, on Friday 10th April 2020, when he got into a heated altercation with a male relative. During the incident, the victim allegedly stabbed the relative in his right shoulder and hand. He, in turn, was stabbed in his shoulder by the relative. The relative then left and returned a short while later with a piece of bamboo and dealt the victim several
blows about the body. Both men refused medical attention after the incident. Around 9:30am, on Saturday 11th April, 2020, the victim’s mother found his
body on the living room floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accused was arrested on that same date and investigations
launched into the incident.
The charge was laid against Beharry, by PC Shiva Maraj, of
Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, on Saturday 18th April
