Six Venezuelans who entered T&T illegally through an inlet off Bunsee Trace, Penal near the mud volcanoes have been arrested by police.
Investigators said a party of officers led by Senior Supt Brandon-John, Superintendent Singh, Insp Simon and Sgt Crawford set up a stakeout at the deserted inlet after receiving information that the Venezuelans would be arriving.
The officers later intercepted a gold Nissan Prairie occupied by six Venezuelans. The seven-seater wagon was being driven by a 36-year-old national of Balmain Village, Couva.
The four Venezuelan men aged 39, 38, 21, and 22 and two Venezuelan women aged 18 and 30, were taken to the Siparia Health Facility where they were medically examined by Dr Cooper.
They were then taken to the Penal and Fyzabad police stations where they will be detained until deportation.
