A Venezuelan woman was among a group of persons who were held with cocaine during a police operation on Thursday.
Official police reports say members of the Port of Spain Division Task Force carried out the intelligence-led operation designed to target two priority offenders.
The exercise was conducted in the Port of Spain and Central Divisions during the hours 8 pm on Thursday 19th August 2021 and 2 am on Friday 20th August 2021.
According to official reports, around 8:30 pm on Thursday, the officers went to the home of a man at Maraj Trace, Chaguanas, and executed a search warrant for arms and ammunition. The officers allegedly found a bag in a kitchen cupboard containing cream-coloured rock-like solids and a white powder-like substance resembling that of cocaine, which weighed 680 grams.
Six persons, including two women—a Venezuelan and a Trinidadian—were arrested in connection with this find.
The officers then proceeded to Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, at the home of a priority offender and executed a search warrant for arms and ammunition. The officers reportedly found three rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition in a room in the house.
The suspect was arrested and is to be charged for the offence.
