The Venezuelan woman, who was killed on the highway last Monday in what police described as an accident, has been identified as Marelis Boada Muñoz.

While police believe Muñoz was fatally struck while attempting to cross the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, in the vicinity of near the Hindu Credit Union in Freeport, her relatives had another theory.

Her relatives claimed that she was kidnapped and was being taken somewhere and she attempted to escape by jumping out of the moving vehicle but instead was fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle on the highway.

However, people in the area claimed that they knew her and insisted that she was attempting to cross the highway when she was struck.

Muñoz’s relatives, who are in Venezuela are said to be mourning her death and are now pleading for help from the T&T Government to have her body repatriated to Venezuela so that they can give her a proper burial.

The relatives, who spoke to media personnel in Venezuela, said they are very poor and cannot afford to bring her body home.

A police report said Muñoz, who is believed to be in her early 20’s, was fatally struck at about 3 am.
