A 45-year-old man of Vistabella has been granted $100,000 on arson charges

Kyle Richards, unemployed, of Hubert Ranch Street, Vistabella, San Fernando, was arrested and charged by PC Kunjal, of the

Oropouche Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday.

The Police Service said in a statement that his arrest followed a report of arson in the district last Saturday in which the victim reported to police that a man, who has relations with his daughter, was allegedly seen leaving her room after it was set on fire.

The victim, with assistance of his neighbours, managed to extinguish the fire.

Acting Cpl Thompson and PCs Hosein and Kunjal responded to the report and began enquiries which led to a suspect surrendering to police at the Oropouche Police Station later that day.

Richards appeared in the Siparia Magistrates’ Coout and the case was adjourned to September 1.

Cops find cocaine, ganja in Laventille

Police have charged a 41-year-old man following the alleged seizure of cocaine and marijuana reportedly found at the man’s home in Laventille.

A statement from the Police Service said Leon King, aka “Toby” was arrested and taken to the Besson

Street Police Station after the drugs were found at his apartment at Plaisance Terrace, Laventille.

Police said they had a search warrant to look for guns and amunition but instead found 1.269 kilogrammes of marijuana and 215 grammes of cocaine.

King has bee charged with trafficking in cocaine and marijuana. He was expected to answer the charges yesterday in court.

The search was supervised by acting Insp Morales and coordinated by Cpl Phillips. The search warrant was done by PC Singh along with officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and Canine Units.
