Several parts of Point Fortin, La Brea and Southwest Trinidad will experience a disruption in their water supply this week, as the Point Fortin Desalination Plant, as well as the Chatham Water Treatment Plant, will be brought offline temporarily, to facilitate emergency works.

According to the latest advisory issued by the Water and Sewerage Authority, the first disruption will be experienced in parts of Point Fortin and La Brea served by the Point Fortin Desalination Plant, on Wednesday 2nd December 2020, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

WASA explains the interruption in their pipe borne water supply will be because of a planned power outage by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission that will affect operations at the facility.

WASA also advises that it may take up to 6 hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas.

Areas to be affected include:

Parrylands, Egypt Village, Cochrane, Salazar Trace, Huberts Town, Gonzales, Brighton Cato, Lot 10, Harriman Park, New Village, Reservoir Hill, Clifton Hill, Point Fortin (Proper), Techier, Mahaica, Vance River, Fanny Village and Vessigny.

The second disruption will impact WASA customers in parts of Southwest Trinidad served by the Chatham Water Treatment Plant, on Thursday 3rd December 2020, between the hours of 8.00 am and 4:00 pm.

WASA says this pipe borne water supply disruption is necessary in order to facilitate repairs to a leaking 16-inch pipeline at the Chatham facility.

The Authority also reminds citizens in Southwest Trinidad that it may take up to 24 hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas, in accordance with pipe borne water supply schedules.

Areas to be affected include:

Quarry Village, Rancho Quemado, Bennet Village, Santa Flora, Palo Seco, St Francis Village, Erin, Sheila Lamorell Gardens, Dickie Trace, Los Bajos, Waddle Village, Chatham North, Chatham South, Boodram Trace, Point Coco, Unity Road, Augustusville, Coromandel Road and Southern Main Road from Cap De Ville Junction to Point Coco Ext.
