
A suspect managed to elude capture by officers of the Northern Division Task Force on exercise in the Tunapuna district today; however, the officers seized an illegal weapon he would have left behind.
According to official police reports, a foot patrol exercise was conducted in First Trace, Tunapuna, in search of a priority offender. The officers approached the suspect, intending to search him, but when he saw the officers, he ran off.
Reports are that one green coloured pistol outfitted with a selector, together with ten rounds 9 mm ammunition, fell from the suspect’s waist as he made his escape.
A chase ensued; however, the suspect was able to evade the officers.
The anti-crime exercise was conducted in the Tunapuna district between 8:00 am and 10:00 am on Tuesday 26th May, 2020.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt David and supported by ASP Gyan and Insp Pitt; and co-ordinated by Sgt. La Pierre, and Cpl. Forde and PCs Gooding and Carrington.
