Ayanna Webster-Roy

Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy has set the record straight, after a voice note circulated, insinuating that she may have be exposed to the coronavirus on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Tobago to Trinidad. The voice note said, that a female passenger who disembarked an international flight had tested positive for the virus and was hospitalised in Trinidad.

However a statement from the Ministry of Health debunked the information, stating that it was false news.

In response to the social media reports, Minister Webster-Roy sought to set the record straight, stressing that she was in good health.

“I wish to reassure the public that I am in good health and have not come into contact with any person suspected of carrying the coronavirus.

It has come to my attention that a voice note is being circulated which suggests that I may have been exposed to the coronavirus while travelling on a CAL flight from ANR Robinson International Airport to Trinidad. The Minister of Health has verified that as of today, no one, at any of our health institutions, presented with symptoms of the virus. Furthermore, none of our health institutions has anyone warded with the coronavirus,” she said.

She thanked all the persons who contacted her and expressed concern about her well-being and urged the population to continue taking the necessary precautions to ensure T&T remains coronavirus free.
