A woman is among four people currently assisting officers with investigations into a firearm and ammunition which were seized during an exercise in the Northern Division, in the early hours of today, Friday November 12th.

And the Police Service is encouraging members of the public to continue sharing information that would help them keep and take guns out of the hands of would-be criminals.

According to police reports, officers received intelligence which led to the execution of several search warrants in the Malabar and Pinto areas. During a search at a house located in Malabar, the officers discovered one nine-millimetre pistol, along with a magazine containing 16 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.

The occupants of the house were detained pending further investigations.

The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Samaroo and Snr Supt Ramphall; coordinated by W/ASP Powder and Insp Pitt; supervised by Sgt La Pierre, Cpls Forde and Superville; and included other members of the Northern Division Task Force, Area West.
