RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT

A 32-year-old woman who was abducted after boarding a ‘PH’ taxi in Piarco, managed to escape after fighting off the assailants.

According to a police report, at about 2:15 pm and 2:20 pm on Sunday, the victim was standing along Golden Grove Road, Piarco, in the vicinity of Swissport, awaiting transportation. She stopped a Nissan B series vehicle with two male occupants—the driver and a rear seat passenger.

The victim entered the front passenger seat and asked to be taken to Arouca. The vehicle drove west along Golden Grove Road, then proceeded North along Golden Grove Road. Upon reaching Regent Star Hotel at B.W.I.A Boulevard, the driver made a left turn unto Farm Road, then onto Mohan Trace. The driver brought the vehicle to a stop, the rear seat passenger exited the vehicle and came to the front passenger door armed with a knife and ordered the victim out of the vehicle.

A struggle then ensued between victim and suspect, during which her cell phone (value to be ascertained) and a wallet which contained TT$50 fell out in the vehicle.

The victim received an injury to her right hand and was ordered out of the vehicle.  The men sped off north along Mohan Trace, making good of their escape.

An all points bulletin was issued to be on alert the vehicle; however, it was not seen.

The victim was later taken to the Piarco Police Station to make a report.

Enquires are continuing.
